We all struggle with how much of this and that we need. Probably you’ve even been buying an excess or been skipping to clean often whereas you are meant to do it in shorter time spans. All this confusion can make you follow practices that do not make any hygienic sense. Here are a few suggestions to help you figure out your dilemmas

Changing towels

Let’s face it, you may not be like hotels where towels are changed daily. Chances are you normally reuse the same towel before taking it to the laundry.  According to hygiene experts, you need three towels. You should change your towel at least every three days, if you cannot do it on the recommended daily basis. One can be in use at any one time, while two are in the closet. Also, if a guest visits, they can have a clean one at any given time.

How many bedsheets you need

Hygiene experts recommend three bedsheets on a minimum and you should purpose to change them on a daily basis or every two days. With all the sweating at night, you should treat bedsheets with the same respect you treat your clothes. Often times you do not wear the same clothes you had on yesterday, right? Bedsheets should be changed with the same in mind.

Changing your curtains

Those lovely curtains we love and have a hard time changing as they give such an aesthetic ambience need a changing. Be sure to check for dust in your area that could accumulate in your curtains which ultimately guides how often you will clean and change them, at least once a fortnight.

Doing general house cleaning

Washing your house daily is unlike what general cleaning involves. During general cleaning (thorough cleaning), you literally put things upside down, as you strive to get all spots clean. Since this is a tasking activity, you can do it once per week. If you have children, who tend to pour a lot of food and easily get surfaces dirty, being extra on this is recommended.

Using facecloths and towels separately

Our faces tend to be extremely sensitive which should encourage separate towel use. Invest in many face cloths and change them on a daily basis. Do not wipe your face with the same towel you use to dry the rest of your body. The face is very sensitive and your constant pimple development can be the sign that you need to change your towel use routine.

Should you vacuum your carpet daily?

With all the accumulated dust as we walk into our homes, your carpet is going to be a breeding ground for dust mites and other related pests if not cleaned regularly. Be safe and ensure you vacuum your carpet at least thrice a week. You will even prevent any issues of flus which arise from staying in extremely dusty areas.

Cleaning your electrical appliances

As a rule of the thumb, electrical appliances need cleaning and constant servicing. Your fridge for instance, should be cleaned and sanitized weekly, or when it has any spilled fluids. It could have a leak or end of gas which could make it dysfunctional. The same applies to our oven and microwave which should be cleaned once it cools down after a use. If you leave the bread crumbs inside the baking trays, cockroaches will sure visit you.

General cleaning of your household items should be something you prioritize. It eliminates any pest infestation, and ensures that you and your family members don’t spend time and money visiting hospitals when you can practice hygiene at your own homes.

If you could choose any age, to stay in for the rest of your life, which would it be?
