President Uhuru Kenyatta left the country on Sunday night for Canada to attend a three-day global conference on gender equality and wellbeing of women.

The Women Deliver 2019 Global Conference is ongoing in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Uhuru was invited to the conference by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and is expected back early next week.

State House said he is scheduled to give keynote addresses at select sessions of the meeting.

Over 6,000 delegates including world leaders are expected at the conference which will focus on exploring lasting solutions to challenges facing women.

The President will also hold talks with the Canadian PM on the sidelines of the global conference.

This is the second time Trudeau is inviting Uhuru to Canada in a span of one year.

In June 2018, the PM invited the Kenyan leader alongside other world leaders to attend the G7 Summit, which addressed gender inequality, equity, climate change, security and the blue economy.
