"I was happy before you came and I will remain happy without you in my life". This was my best friend’s status the last time I stalked her status on whatsup. Immediately I knew something was wrong and decided to pay her a visit. She is one of those " rare" people who take everything to social media. Whatever they are going through you will always know through social media.

When I got to her place, my fears were confirmed. My best friend Mercy had had a serious quarrel with her roommate the previous night over Mercy's carelessness though she refused to accept. She therefore decided to write that on her status to provoke her 'unfair’ roommate.

I had to scold my friend for this way back behavior. It was not the first time she was doing this. Come to think of it, why would one trust social media to that extent? There are some issues that are sometimes better solved with the respective person rather than aired to the public through the social media. Sometimes I get disgusted when I log in my facebook or whatsup account and find some citizen trying to "update" us on where he or she is, who they are with, what they are doing, what they are going through in a relationship and even what they are planning to do.

When having a relationship or marriage problem why not visit a relationship or marriage advisor? When having a problem with a friend, why not see the friend or person involved and settle your issues? What makes one think we want to know how he or she broke up with her lover, or how they feel just because they broke up? This is more of washing ones dirty linen in public! My friend, we also have problems that if we decide to post on social media, you will not want us to pity you anymore. But we choose to keep it and solve them in proper ways .

The first time I had Rose Muhando's song Facebook,i thought finally the message had been passed but we are still doing it. Social media is a social place. Going round posting friends and talking of how bad they are isn't cool. What if the person doesn't always even have a look at your status or view your posts, then you won't be communicating. In the long run you will end up losing friends because of that behaviour then you will have yourself to blame.

Moreover, this idea of letting us know wherever one is is not always proper for security reasons. Robbers may easily know where you are as you keep them updated and this can only mean harm to your loved ones or yourself. All am trying to say is, let Us allow what is private remain private.
