There was gloom at Kanga Boys High in Migori County after the school failed to be ranked.
The school, which was recently elevated to national school, was missing from the list of top performing schools after some of the results were cancelled.
And Thursday, the school, which has been known to erupt in jubilation whenever results are released was unusually quiet, with students huddled in small groups after the school failed to appear in the top 100 in the country.
According to Rongo DEO Albert Langat, one boy failed to get his Biology results leading to the entire school failing to be ranked.
"We have already launched an investigation into the issue," he said, adding that any teacher who will be found to have taken part in the cheating would be shown the door.
Excellent performance
Similar scenes replayed at Kodero Bara Secondary where five students failed to get their geography and biology results.
And in the neighbouring Kuja Special School for the deaf, 25 students failed to get their biology results.
However, it was all celebration at St Joseph Secondary School Rapogi as the teachers and students celebrated the school’s excellent performance, which saw them top in the county.
Out of the 191 students who sat the examinations last year, 26 had A plain, 51 with A-, 46 B+, 46B, 19B- and 3C+ with a mean grade of 10.27.
Students carrying twigs ran along the busy Migori-Kisii highway in celebration.
The principal, Thomas Kogolla, attributed the good performance to hard work by both the teachers and students.
