Every year, lots of couples save up for holiday trips out of town or abroad. As much as this year has been a tough one for many, things are getting slightly better and people are jetting off to places they couldn’t visit due to lockdowns.

On the other hand, not everyone has a chance to travel due to financial reasons, demanding work schedules and other issues that may come up.

For that reason, more couples are embracing the idea of a staycation where you can spend time at home or within your hometown for Christmas.

All that matters is that you get to enjoy precious moments with your significant other.

To make that a reality, here are some great ways you can have fun this Christmas season without breaking the bank:

  • Movie marathon

Movies always have a way of creating a romantic atmosphere. It’s a great option for a first date and even when you’ve been dating for years or married already, it sparks all the lovey-dovey feelings when you’re watching them together.

Prepare your favorite snacks or order some takeout for you to enjoy as you binge on your must watch movies all day or night long.

  • Dress up date night

A relationship can get a little stale once you’re so used to being around each other for years. You either see each other in baggy shirts when you’re home from work or in your usual office wear every other day.

Rarely do couples get the chance to dress up for each other and that’s why this Christmas season is the perfect opportunity.

It would be a good idea to surprise each other by dressing up for a date night to a local restaurant or even have a date at home where you bring out the best versions of yourselves, for each other, and enjoy a fun night.

Don’t only wait until there is a special occasion for you to look good for your s/o.

  • Picnic date

Having a picnic with your bae is literally every girl’s dream. It might be a little corny but it’s definitely one of those things we should all experience at least once in our lifetime.

You can pick a local park where you can enjoy being in nature or even better, set up the date in your backyard if you have one or have a cozy picnic on your balcony, whatever works for you.

Just make sure the food and drinks are flowing and there is a good atmosphere where you can have uninterrupted conversations.

  • Staycation at a hotel

Having a hotel staycation is a brilliant way of mimicking a travel experience. We all love to be pampered once in a while so you can choose to book a room at a nice local hotel.

Get the most out of your staycation by swimming and indulging in delicious meals. And, you should try a relaxing spa session too.

You will be having so much fun and probably forget that you’re still within the city.

  • Romantic drives

Another idea you can try this Christmas is a drive. All you need is a car, some snacks and good music.

This is a pocket friendly experience where you can still feel like you’ve gotten to enjoy the holiday season.

Spend time exploring the city by having a daytime or nighttime drive together.
