A cloud of sadness engulfed the baby boomers generation when the death of famous pioneer black actor Sidney Poitier was announced.
Sidney Poitier who died at the age of 94 was not only the first black man to win an Oscar but his presence in film paved way for generations of black film stars.
And as the world continues to mourn the loss of a film mogul, just how much do we know about his personal life?
Like any other man, Sidney was an amazing father but the best part is he was a girl dad not of one or two but of six girls, making him an all rounded inspiration.
The Hollywood icon married Juanita Marie in 1950 and together they had four children before they divorced 15 years later.
Beverly Poitier Henderson the eldest of Sidney Poitier's six children may have not ventured into acting but she wrote and self-published a book called Nana in 2001.

Like most children, his second born Pamela Michelle Poitier, 67, followed in his footsteps into the film industry and is known for movies like Stir Crazy, Ghost Dad and The Jackal.
Sherri Poitier, 65, also an actress and is known for her roles in movies like A Piece Of The Action and The Fighting Temptations.
His fourth born, Gina Poitier died in 2018 at the age of 57 and her obituary described her death as “fast and surprising.”
After his divorce, Sidney Poitier married Joanna Shimkus and together they were blessed with two children, girls.
Anika Poitier, now 49, is a director and actress. As the saying goes an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, she is known for films like The Devil Cats, Swordfish and Yard Sale.
His lastborn, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, named after him is currently 48 years and without a doubt in the film industry as well and is famous for movies like Death Proof and Knight Rider.
