Do you have dark inner thighs or around the butt area? This may have occurred after childbirth, or after a period of weight gain. This may not really bother you, except when you have to wear that swimsuit. Here are ways you can lighten the dark spots naturally.

1. Orange peel and honey Citrus fruits are packed with vitamin C, which also acts as a bleaching agent. Honey is soothing on the skin and helps to get rid of blemishes. Grate the peel of one orange and mix with one spoon of raw honey. Apply the paste on your inner thighs and wash off after 15 minutes.

2. Coconut oil with lemon Coconut oil helps to lighten hyper pigmentation on the skin. Mix two tablespoons of coconut oil with one teaspoon of lemon juice. Massage this onto the inner thighs for 15 minutes and wash off with warm water. Don't use soap at this point as it will remove the beneficial effects of the coconut oil.

3. Sugar, honey, lemon scrub This scrub will help to shed the dead skin cells while lightening the thighs. Mix one teaspoon of sugar, one tablespoon of raw honey, and half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub this on and gently scrub in a circular motion for about 10 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and moisturise.

4. Lemon Cut a lemon in half and rub it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off. Lemon is drying on the skin therefore to avoid scaly skin, ensure that you moisturise.

5. Aloe vera Massage aloe Vera gel onto the affected areas to help repair and heal the skin.

6. Yogurt, oat mask Mix an equal amount of natural yogurt, oats, and lemon juice to form a thick paste. Rub it in and leave it for as long as possible until it dries.

7. Powdered milk and honey Mix an equal amount of powdered milk, honey, and lemon juice and apply this onto your thighs.

Friction when the thighs rub against each other is a major cause. Use these home made remedies daily and you should see the results within two weeks.
