Gospel singer Kevin Kioko better known by his stage name Bahati has expressed his surprise over his former EMB signee Weezdom’s decision to quit gospel music.  Taking to social media, the former CEO of the now-defunct production studio explained that he was taken aback by the decision but wishes him well in his endeavours.

“Quitting gospel music and choosing to be off the music is one of the things that shocked me, bro! But I understand men make decisions and as you take on your new endeavours may god lead & guide you. Remember our motto, failing ain't an option. Blessings,” he wrote.

Weezdom made public his decision to quit about a week ago saying that the industry had become too toxic for him.

EMB closed

Soon after Bahati announced that he was closing down EMB records after months of deliberation and soul searching.

Announcing on YouTube, Bahati explained that the gospel industry had become messed up.

“EMB Records has never been a business. I had contracts because I was hopeful that, someday, they would be successful and, maybe, there would be a return on investment,” said Bahati.

“The gospel is Christ, but this is a messed up industry with no gospel in it. Let’s say the truth, the gospel industry is not doing well. That is why Willy Paul alituhepa.

“Guys, Gengetone will take over kabisa,” he said.

To concerned fans worried about singer Denno’s situation following EMB folding up, Bahati clarified that the shutdown was inconsequential to their relationship as the singer was not on contract and that he will continue to finance and support the Mbona hitmaker.
