Messages of condolences continue to pour in mourning the passing of Jonathan Toroitich, the eldest son of former Head of State, Daniel Arap Moi.

Headlining the list of condolence messages to the Moi family is President Uhuru Kenyatta who described Toroitich as a "humble, kind, generous and courageous person".

President Kenyatta eulogized the late as a dependable man whose “pioneering exploits in motorsport, farming and business” will always be remembered.

"I have received the news this morning of the passing away of my friend and brother Jonathan Toroitich Moi with great shock and disbelief. 

"As I convey my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to your Excellency, your family and friends, I pray God to grant each one of you the grace and strength to bear with the big loss.

"JT's word was always his bond, he was dependable. Many of us will always remember JT for his pioneering exploits in motorsport as a rally driver and as a successful farmer, businessman and entrepreneur.

"May the Almighty God rest the soul of our brother and friend Jonathan Toroitich Moi in eternal peace," said Uhuru.

On his part, opposition leader Raila Odinga stated that he feels saddened by the passing of Toroitich.

“My family and that of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga send deeply felt condolences to President Daniel arap Moi following the death of Jonathan Moi earlier today. We wish strength to the former President and his family to bear the loss. May God grant peace to the family at this sad moment.”

ANC chief Musalia Mudavadi posted that his family is shocked by the loss and that his prayers are with the family.

“It is with profound shock Tessie and I have learnt of the passing on of Jonathan Moi. Our heartfelt condolences to HE Daniel Arap Moi, Jonathan Moi's family, the entire Moi family and to their relatives and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr stated, “Rest In Peace Jonathan Moi. Safari Rally enthusiasts will remember you and your famous Toyota Celica.”

Toroitich died on Friday.
