Clifton Bailey better known as Capleton was granted bail after spending days in jail following his arrest on Friday for the alleged rape of a hairdresser.
According to the police, Capleton, 51, was taken into custody following a report made against him on Wednesday, May 2.
The woman who is yet to be named, told police officers that she was contracted by the entertainer to groom his hair at the hotel in New Kingston on April 28 and that’s when he forced himself onto her and had sex with her against her will.
She did not file the police report until May 2nd.
After appearing before a judge in a St. Andrew Parish Court, the artist was granted bail in the sum of 250,000 Jamaican Dollars (US$1,995) and was warned not to speak to the complainant.

Capleton has maintained his innocence and reported the hair dresser for attempted extortion.
The Jah Jah City hit maker’s lawyer Christopher Townsend said that investigation of both matters was underway and some issues involving the complainant had been brought up.
‘’I can also confirm there is also a double investigation, because the young lady who made the report is also being investigated for extortion, so that investigation is ongoing. We anticipate she will also be in custody shortly.’’ He said during an interview with Radio Jamaica.
The case will be heard on June 14th.
