The smooth operator; Luda Cris of Thika Road

With the completion on Thika Superhighway, which is fondly referred as ‘Baba Kibaki’ road, mathrees plying that route have had to change strategy.

It has been a case of upping their game and luring their customers with eye-catching rides. And now, Hannover Sacco has given birth to a new mathree, Luda Cris, which plies the city centre- KU route.

The mathree is named after Christopher Brian ‘Chris’ Bridges, better known by his stage name Ludacris, an American rapper, entrepreneur and actor.

Speaking to Ma3 Culture, one of the crew, James Kimani, said they came up with the name because it resonates well with the young and hip youth who are their main customers.

“Most of our customers are students who love the name. It was bait that we used to attract them,” he said.

Luda Cris has only been four months on the road and it has already become a darling of commuters.

Its eye-catching green and yellow colours are unmistakable.

“The route is very competitive, but we have learnt to listen to our customers’ needs. For example, we have reduced our fares to between Sh30 and Sh70,” explained Kimani.
