News of the passing on of Nzau Kalulu, an iconic radio and media figure were received with shock among many Kenyans.

Kalulu passed on Monday while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

According to his father,Fredrick Mulinge Kalulu,the fallen renown radio personality succumbed shortly after 4.00pm at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

The former Royal Media Services employee has been battling with kidney failure that eventually triggered diabetes.

His sister Ndunge Kalulu donated one of her kidneys which was transplanted in an Indian hospital a couple of years ago.

The late Nzau Kalulu began his career at the State's broadcaster, KBC where he hosted the famous Sundowner programme.

He later joined the Royal Media as the Head of radio

Nzau’s father who is also a former Mbooni MP thanked those who stood with him and the entire family during his son's brave fight with the disease that led to amputation of his legs.

Tributes and messages of condolences poured in on social media with most Kenyans remembering him for his smooth baritone that denoted his shows.
