Peter Sankale, famously known as in the acting world as Olexander Josphat is among this year’s nominees for the Cheka Awards that is going down on Saturday 19th at PCEA St Andrew, Nairobi.
Sankale will be battling it out with his other Vioja Mahakamani actors Mzee Ojwang Hatari, Mama Kayai and Ondiek Nyuka Kwota for the Life Time Achiever Award. Also in the category is Inspector Mwala of the famous Inpector Mwala show of Citizen TV. He has also been nominated for the Best Sit-com Comedian Award.
other nominees in this category include Wilbroda and Njoro of the Papa Shirandula fame, Onjiri and Jastorina Mboch.
Sankale has previously won numerous awards in the past. These include ‘Best Entertainer & Actor Awards’ during Inter Schools Drama & Music Festivals.
His first debut in the silver screen was in KBC’s Vitimbi in 1991 while working as a bank clerk at Panafrican Bank.

He left his clerical job to pursue a Diploma in Performing Arts at The Nairobi Theater Academy.
In 1995 he joined KBC’s Vioja Mahakamani where he has been acting to date.
In 2005, Sankale attended an International Cultural Conference at the UN Headquarters, New York, USA and performed a series of events in about 6 states.
In 2010 he performed at the Stockholm Comedy Festival in Sweden.
He has also won the Kalasha Best TV Drama Comedian Award 2012.
Sankale has also made it to the list of the nominees for the King of Comedy that include Otoyo, Jalang’o, Churchill and Erick Omondi.
Nominees for the Queen of Comedy include Teacher Wanjiru, Wilbroda, Awinja, Zulekha and Jastorina Mboch.
In the most Promising Comedian Category the nominees are Dr King’ori, Sleepy, Obinna, Chipukezzy, Dr Ofweneke and Onjiri.
Jalango, Wilbroda, Cleophas Awinja, Mwalimu Kingangi and Dr Ofweneke will battle it out for the best Radio Comedian.
