A bar attendant has been arraigned in court for allegedly assaulting a police officer who went to arrest revellers in Kamukunji.

Anne Wanja is said to have beaten Issack Mohamed, a police officer on patrol around midnight that October 2.

Mohamed was securing the door as two of his fellow officers entered the bar where patrons were escaping through an opening they had created upon arrival of the cops.

Wanja is said to have run outside and tried stopping the cops from arresting her customers and when Mohamed tried to arrest her, she allegedly became violent, grabbed the cop’s right hand and bit him. He was rushed to a nearby clinic.

Wanja denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh30,000. The case will be heard on February 9, 2017.
