A Nakuru court was left in shock after Tabitha Okongo, a nominated MCA from Ombata Estate in Kisii County, sought court’s protection from an ‘intimidating’ lawyer. “My Lord look at how the Counsel is looking at me. He should have courtesy,” Okongo cried out in the middle of the proceedings where she was being cross examined by Lawyer Ogutu Mboya.
Justice Radido broke into laughter that was joined by litigants and those following the proceedings. The lawyer too was perplexed. Ms Okongo demonstrated to the court how Mr Ogutu was allegedly looking at her with ‘strange eyes’.
Judge Radido intervened saying: “Counsel stop intimidating the witness,” which elicited more laughter. Miss Okongo was testifying in a court after she was summoned in court for faulting the judge’s move to temporarily reinstate two sacked county assembly officials over alleged embezzlement of funds.
