Two people were killed on Saturday morning following a grisly road accident along Kangundo-Kathiani highway in Machakos County.
The accident, which involved a lorry and a motorbike, occurred at Kwamutanga area near Mathathi trading centre.
Kangundo Sub County Police Commander, Benjamin Ong’ombe told Standard Digital that the speeding bodaboda operator, which was heading to Kangundo was hit by a lorry which was heading to the opposite direction.
“The boda boda rider was carrying a passenger when they were hit by the oncoming lorry killing the two,” said Ong’ombe.

The police boss said officers are looking for the driver of the lorry, who fled the scene immediately after the accident.
“We believe the driver may have escaped to avoid wrath of the public but we are pursuing him. We have also towed the lorry and the wreckage of the motor bike to Kangundo Police Station,” he said.
On’gombe added that bodies of the rider and his passenger were removed to Kangundo Level 4 hospital mortuary.
