Sonko announces changes he will make to buildings in Nairobi

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is currently attending a Forum on the role of Cities in the global agenda at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States, and announced that he will soon make changes to buildings in Nairobi.

Through a video posted on his official Facebook page, the governor noted that he will repaint buildings in Nairobi once he comes back.

"Juzi nimeona Mombasa manyumba zimepigwa rangi. Lakini Nairobi ukisema watu wapake rangi wataanza demonstrations (I recently saw buildings in Mombasa City repainted. If you order the same in Nairobi, people will take to the streets).

"Lakini ngonjeni nirudi, hizo nyumba mtapiga rangi ama tuwakamate (Once I am back, you will have to repaint those buildings or we will arrest you). There is a by-law on that," he said.

Sonko further stated that traffic congestion and garbage are common even in advanced countries but he will do his best to restore the pride of Nairobi.

Separately, the governor urged well-wishers to visit football legend Kadenge in hospital and offer him assistance since he is one of the most celebrated footballers in Kenya.

“I have instructed my team to pay Kadenge a visit and offer him any assistance needed by the family to ensure he gets quality medical attention in order to boost his recovery.

“I also wish to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for intervening in helping Kadenge’s family to settle the outstanding hospital bill through the NHIF medical cover which earlier had issues.

“As the Ambassador of Good Deeds, I wish Kadenge a quick recovery and I urge all Kenyans to pray for him and also remember other Kenyans who are bedridden in hospitals across the country,” he added.
