Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko has suspended county official over his alleged involvement in approval of buildings on riparian land.
Sonko says in a statement from City Hall that it has been established that John Ojwang granted permission for the constructions of South End Mall along Lang’ata Road and Gem Suits in Riverside Estate.
The statement partly reads: “Mr Ojwang has been issued with a notice to show cause within 14 days why disciplinary action should not be taken against him including termination of employment.”
It further reveals that the approvals were made by officials who worked for the Nairobi City council in 1980s and 1990s, and that most of the them have since retired.
