Nyali MP Mohamed Ali’s election has been upheld by the Mombasa High Court.
High Court Judge Lydia Achode dismissed the petition challenging Ali’s victory, saying the election was conducted according to the law.
The petition was filed by Daniel Abwao, who has now been ordered to pay Sh7million in costs.
The Nyali MP will now receive Sh3.5 million with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) receiving the same amount.
Minutes after the ruling, the Nyali MP spoke to his supporters outside the court, blasting his competitor Said Abdalla Saido and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
