A man impersonating Prophet David Owuor of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness has been arrested.
Kennedy Ochieng', a 19-year-old resident of Kisumu who has allegedly been soliciting funds from unsuspecting people, was arrested last Friday in Kisumu then transferred to Nakuru, where Prophet Owuor has filed a case against him.
According to Pastor Gilbert Kimutai, the man has allegedly been running a 'fake' Facebook page using Prophet Owuor's name and pictures to lure both local and international followers on social media to solicit money.
''We have been following his activities for some time now. He has been masquerading as the Man of God (Prophet Owuor). The latter does not even have a Facebook account,'' he said during a press conference.
Police nabbed the suspect after he allegedly requested for some 7,000 Euros (Sh700,000) from an Argentine 'follower' to support the upcoming end-year meeting in Nakuru.
