A chief in Suba District is used to witnessing unusual events, but the sight of a naked man being frog marched into his home by an angry mob at night was remarkable even by his standards.
The mob, chanting war songs, was leading a teacher accused of sleeping with his own pupils. They wanted to lynch him in the presence of the chief to make a point.
Many people in the village had accused the teacher of seducing schoolgirls. According to villagers, the teacher is one of the men who inherit widows in the village and is infected with HIV/Aids. It is believed that he is so keen on sleeping with schoolgirls in order to infect them.
"He is out to infect our daughters. He is going to kill all of them because he has slept with many girls in this school and even with our wives," one of the men said.

On Sunday last week, the teacher went to the hut of a pupil he has been trying to seduce.
Pocket money
Earlier in the day, the teacher, who is the girl’s neighbour, had tried to persuade the girl to go and sleep with him somewhere far from the village.
The teacher promised to take care of her financial needs, including pocket money, but she refused.
The girl did not treat this lightly and reported it to the parents, who alerted villagers.
It was agreed that the girl would go and sleep in her house as usual while her parents and villagers pretended to be asleep.
So the teacher came, knocked and the door was opened for him. He entered and the girl pretended to be in the mood of lovemaking. But before they could proceed, she asked to go out for a short call and to confirm that everyone was asleep.
The pleased teacher eagerly waited for the girl to come back for a lovely night.
War songs
Instead, she went and alerted her parents that the teacher had come. They advised her to go and keep him busy as the parents alerted villagers. In a short while, the homestead was swarming with people chanting war songs.
And before the teacher could escape, the house was surrounded. He tried hiding under the bed after asking the girl not to inform the villagers about his whereabouts.
"How have they known that I am here? Maybe your parents were not asleep. Please don’t tell them that I am under the bed, sweetheart," the teacher pleaded.
Strong men were allowed in to get him as the rest waited outside to nab him should he attempt escaping through the window or overpowered those who had entered.
The teacher was surprised when the girl told the mob where he was hiding even though she had promised not to tell them.
He was pulled out like a thief and frog marched to the area chief’s home. But before they got there, the mob decided to strip the teacher naked.
Eventually the chief intervened and saved the lecherous man’s life.
