Argentina suffered a shocking 6-1 defeat to Spain in an international friendly on Tuesday evening. Argentina were without their skipper Lionel Messi who watched his teammates from the stands after pulling a hamstring in training. The Barcelona talisman also missed his side’s win over Italy on Friday after suffering fatigue.
The 6-1 thrashing marked their heaviest defeat to European opposition since 1958.
Real Madrid midfielder Isco was the man of the show after bagging a hat-trick at Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
Thiago, Diego Costa and Iago Aspas also got on the score sheet but it was Isco’s third goal which was also Spain’s sixth in the 74th minute that forced the 30-year-old to stand and walk off leaving his teammate and West Ham star Manuel Lanzini in the stands.
