Arsenal has fended off interest from Manchester City and Chelsea to snatch Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac.
AC Milan and Everton were also keen on the 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
Kolasinac who has been offered a four-year contract by the Gunners can play left wing back and is seen as the club’s long term first choice.
Wenger played down the story last month but Arsenal are confident the deal is done for the full back who is a free agent in the summer.
Wenger said: “I think it’s important we don’t talk about transfers.”
