Kenya Prisons middle-blocker Edith Wisa is delighted after she was named the best blocker in this year's African Women's Volleyball Club championships in Tunisia.

The Kenyan international inspired the wardresses to a third-place finish after seeing off deposed champions Al Ahly 3-2 in a bronze medal match on Sunday.

"Although we didn't win the title, I am happy with our efforts.

Basketball: Ulinzi dismiss Umoja, maintain unbeaten run

Former champions Ulinzi Warriors beat Umoja 68-51 to extent their unbeaten run in the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) men's Premier League at the weekend.

Ulinzi took a 36-23 lead at half time in the see-saw affair. The soldiers won the opening quarter 16-11, but Umoja ensured parity winning the second quarter 12-10.

Ulinzi put their house in order after resumption and won the third set 17-13 before tying 15-15 in the fourth. [Erick Ochieng]

Taekwondo: KDF bag East Africa title

Kenya Defence Forces were in a combative form as they won the 2017 East Africa Taekwondo Open Championships at the Mombasa St Joseph Catholic Church Hall.

 KDF dominated all categories to clinch eight gold medals, five silver and eight bronze. Kibabii University, with four gold medals, seven silver and six bronze, were second, while Bilal team was third with two gold medals. [Ernest Ndunda]
