Naivasha, Kenya: An 85-year-old granny was raped and later murdered in a Naivasha estate by unknown people.

The granny, who lived alone near a slaughterhouse in the area, was strangled using a piece of cloth before the assailant escaped.

An 18-year-old-boy seen near the home hours before the incident is the main suspect.

According to a witness Ali Mohammed, there were indications that the woman was sexually abused before she was killed.

House open

Ali said that a neighbour had became suspicious after the main door to the deceased’s house remained opened for a long time and on checking found her sprawled on the floor.

“She has been living alone for years and depended on hand-outs and we are yet to understand the motive behind the murder,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Charles Kortok confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were going on though no arrest had been made.

“The body of the woman has been collected and taken to the Naivasha District Hospital mortuary as investigations continue,” he said.

Meanwhile, there was drama in a popular night club in Naivasha when a driver of a diplomat was arrested with a fake gun.

The driver escaped lynching from the public as police moved in to arrest him during the late night incident.

Panic gripped the club as some revellers scampered for safety as police and security officers moved to arrest the suspect.

Drama started after the suspect, who is said to be a driver to a West African ambassador, refused to pay entrance fee.

A witness told how a scuffle ensued, forcing bouncers from the club to intervene as the suspect whipped out a pistol.
