Correspondent AK, has what he terms as a “strange” story, which he wants to tell so that “all public servants can draw lessons from it”.
In November last year, he applied for power connection in Kitengela and was surprised when barely a week later Kenya Power notified him via SMS that his application had gone through and that he was required to pay Sh35,000.
Shortly before Christmas, he made the requisite payment at Electricity House in Nairobi. On December 28, Kenya Power dispatched its team with files to the applicant’s workplace so that he could sign the necessary way leave forms and pave way for power installation.
Two days later, some personnel contracted by the company called early in the morning seeking direction to the site where after inspection they promised to install a meter the following day.
