Kisumu, Kenya: Kisumu District Land Adjudication Officer George Oluoch Ogutu was Tuesday arrested by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe of Sh2 000 from member of the public.
Ogutu was nabbed at Kisumu Ardhi house Tuesday afternoon and booked at Railway Police Station, where he was released on a cash bail of Sh50 0000. He is set to appear before Kisumu anti-corruption court Wednesday morning.
Edwin Waudo, EACC officer in charge of Western region confirmed the arrest to The Standard, saying that the officer had demanded for the bribe from a resident, who had sought land adjudication records.
"The resident was seeking services from the office, and needed land adjudication records but instead, he demanded a bribe of Sh2 000," said Waudo.
