President William Ruto has told Kenyans that Cabinet Secretaries in his government will serve all Kenyans equally regardless the ethnic community that an individual CS comes from.

He said this on Sunday, October 16 during an interdenominational church service in Kericho after a section of leaders thanked him for picking CSs from their communities.

Some of the speakers requested to have additional positions in government allocated to members of their communities.

The president is yet to name the Principal Secretaries and Chief Administrative Secretaries in his government.

"I have heard you saying that certain CSs are from this or that region. I wish to tell you that none of the ministers in my government is a village elder or county executive," Ruto said during his speech at the Green Stadium in Kericho.

"All the CSs that I have nominated will serve Kenyans, and they belong to Kenyans. I want tribalism to end in Kenya. I want all Kenyans to have confidence in the ministers that their (Kenyans') welfare will be addressed."

The Head of State further allayed fears of marginalisation, especially among Kenyans who did not vote for him in the August 9, 2022 presidential election.

"There's no way development will only go to certain regions only. We are going to ensure that we've eliminated the feelings of marginalisation by dealing firmly and decisively with inequality, and we are going to ensure that the Government of Kenya serves all citizens equally because we have only one country to call home, and that country is Kenya, and we have only one Government of Kenya at every given time."

The 22 Cabinet Secretary nominees will be vetted starting Monday, October 17.

On Friday, October 14, the National Assembly Clerk Serah Kioko released the timetable indicating when the CS nominees will be vetted by the Committee on Appointments.

The committee is composed of the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula (chairperson), Nelson Koech (Belgut), Rahab Mukami (Nyeri), Dido Ali Raso (Saku), George Murugara (Tharaka), David Gikaria (Nakuru East), Ferdinand Wanyonyi (Kwanza), Mary Emaase (Teso South), Abdul Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Caleb Amisi (Saboti), Stephen Mule (Matungulu), Abdi Shurie (Balambala), Naisula Lesuuda (Samburu West), David Pkosing (Pokot South) and Mishi Mboko (Likoni).

Chief Cabinet Secretary nominee Musalia Mudavadi will be the first to be vetted on Monday, October 17 at 9am.

Mercy Wanjau, who will be vetted for Secretary to the Cabinet position, will be the last to appear before the Committee on Appointments at 2:30pm on Saturday, October 22.

The vetting will take place at the Parliament Buildings in Nairobi.
