The Devolution Ministry and the Nairobi County Government have signed a deal to extend the Nairobi Metropolitan Services’ term by another six months.
The Abdalla Badi-led agency’s new term now ends on August 24, 2022. Initially, it was to end on February 25, 2022.
In a Gazette Notice dated March 8, and signed by former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu, NMS will continue dispensing its duties as per the deed of transfer of functions signed by former Governor Mike Sonko on February 25, 2020.

The functions under NMS’s supervision are transport, housing, public works, utilities and ancillary services and country physical planning and development.
NMS was officially incorporated as a legal entity on March 9, 2020.
