NAIROBI: As the storm against Uber’s presence in Nairobi rages on, another hail-a-taxi firm, Easy Taxi, has partnered with banks. The deal that will see its drivers benefit from a Sh1 billion kitty.
The ‘1 Billion for 1,000 Drivers’ agreement will see drivers get discounted interest rates. So far, however, only KCB has confirmed participation.
The fund is aimed at empowering drivers in their businesses and improving the quality and efficiency of their vehicles.
“By offering them [Easy Taxi drivers] this facility, we empower them to harness their entrepreneurship opportunities and increase their capacity by using modern technology in streamlining the transport sector in Kenya,” Easy Taxi Kenya CEO Paul Ndichu said.
