Varsities can midwife Vision

We are 20 years away from achieving the ambitious Vision 2030, but many obstacles still lie ahead.

The current food crisis, last year’s violence, the global credit crunch and a fast growing population are distracting us from our intended path.

A recent World Bank survey rated our universities lowly. There is little or no research undertaken while student-staff ratios are unacceptably high.

In the US and Europe, universities are crucial to the development of industry. It is time our institutions thought of quality instead of quantity.
