Teenage sensation Henry Meja scored a brace as Tusker thrashed Posta Rangers 4-1 at Kasarani Annex to extend their stay at the top of the FKF Premier League.

It is a game that industrious Luke Namanda also starred, netting a wonder goal and providing an assist to help the Brewers hand Rangers coach Stanley Okumbi a rude welcome back to the topflight football.

Jackson Macharia broke the deadlock in the 38th minute only for Ezekiel Okare to cancel it out after restart before Meja scored a brace in between Namanda's goal to secure a convincing win for Robert Matano's men and consequently open a four-point gap over second-placed KCB (25).

Yesterday's double saw Meja take his season's goal tally to seven, six behind leading scorer Erick Kapaito whose lone goal inspired Kariobangi Sharks to a 1-0 victory away to Vihiga United. The slim win saw Sharks leapfrog Wazito into the third spot (21 points).

Tusker came close in the seventh minute but Meja failed to make contact on Luke Namanda's delivery from the right flank before Hillary Wandera feebly shot straight at Posta Rangers goalkeeper Byrne Omondi.

Rangers then launched a counter-attack but Jackson Dwang's shot was perfectly blocked by one of Tusker defenders before Hashim Sempala scuffed his effort on the opposite end.

Moments later, Macharia saw his effort bounce off target after combining well with Brian Marita as the brewers pushed for the opener before Dwang's free-kick hit the side net on the half-hour mark.

Meja thought he had broken the deadlock in the 35th minute only for his goal to be ruled offside after pouncing on Namanda's rebound.

Macharia then missed a clear-cut chance in the area after a brilliant cross from Meja on the right flank.

But Tusker finally found the breakthrough in the 38th minute after Macharia tapped home from close range a superb Namanda pass

Macharia's celebration was short-lived as Okare cancelled it out with a powerful low shot after receiving a long-range pass from midfield.

Dwang' almost got his name on the scoresheet but his shot missed the target by inches after being released through by Dennis Oalo.

But Meja was rewarded on the stroke of halftime when he unleashed a powerful strike past a stranded Rangers goalkeeper after the ball fell on his path in the area.

Marita forced a fine save from the goalkeeper three minutes into the second half before Macharia miscued his effort after latching on a loose ball at the edge of the box.

Okare nearly drew level in the 55th minute when he received the ball in the area, but goalkeeper Michael Wanjala easily gathered the former Sofapaka man's shot before Sempala made a goal-line clearance to deny Rangers an equaliser.

Namanda then capitalised on the mailmen's defensive blunder to extend the lead with a magnificent goal in the 65th minute by simply heading the ball over the goalkeeper, who was already off his line.

Meja sealed the emphatic win for the 11-time champions in the 84th minute when he rounded off the goalkeeper before slotting the ball in an empty net.
