The Nairobi Securities Exchange reversed its losing streak of the past week as the NSE20 Index gained 135.11 points to close at 4,720.53 points. The NASI edged up 3.45 per cent to 121.39.
The week’s traded shares stood at 167,433,200 valued at Sh3.183 billion. Market capitalisation at the end of week 28 was Sh1.69 trillion.
Below is a table of the week’s gainers led by Eveready East Africa which moved 70,800 shares at an average price of Sh2.90. The counter touched a high of 2.95 and a low of 2.60 during the week. In May Ms Lucy Waithaka was appointed as an independent director and subsequently chair to the board.
Barclays bank was up 10 per cent to Sh17.60. Barclays bank issued a shareholder circular advising on the on-going transaction in which Barclays Plc will transfer its stake in Barclays Bank Kenya to Barclays Bank Africa.
