It is 12 years since Janet Njeri the mother to Saumu Mbuvi passed away. Taking to social media to commemorate her anniversary, the self-styled Mummy in Business and daughter to Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko stated that Njeri is missed beyond measure.
Saumu, in the moving tribute, posted that her mother was a blessing and that her memory will be treasured forever. "Your life was a blessing to us. Your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words...and missed beyond measure. Rest in perfect peace mama, I know someday I will see you again," she captioned photos of her at the gravesite alongside the clergy, family and friends including Senator Anwar Lotiptip.
Sharing the pain of losing a mother at the age of 14, Saumu in 2019 opened up about how her mother's passing is an “everlasting sadness". “Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. It an everlasting sadness that you are no longer here. But every year I like to think you are near us. Your love for us was constant and your devotion had no end. You filled my life with sunshine as a mother and my best friend. So may you forever know that to me you were the best. May you find a gentle peace in sweet eternal rest. I will forever love and miss you, my guardian angel,” she posted.

A message that echoed her 2018 post where she noted that death robbed her of a mentor and declared that she will live a life that would have made her proud. "I still can’t believe today marks 10years since you left us. I know It will never get easier losing you to death when I still needed you so much. But in your honour, I will live a life that would have made you proud of me if you were still here. I love you and miss you, mum.”
