Rapper Rashid Makwiro popularly known as Chidi Benz has been arrested by Tanzanian police.
Benz was arrested in Dodoma after he was allegedly found with heroine. He was arrested alongside his wife and two other suspects.
While confirming the arrests, Dodoma police commander Giless Muroto stated their files were with the public prosecutor and they will be arraigned in court after completion of investigations:
“Ni kweli Chidi Benz mnamo tarehe 30/12/2017, tulimkamata akiwa yeye na mke wake na vijana wawili. Tumemkamata akiwa na dawa za kulevya zidhaniwayo kuwa ni Heroine. Jalada lake lipo tayari kwa Mwanasheria wa wa serikali linafanyiwa uchunguzi na muda wowote watapelekwa mahakamani.”
This is his third arrest over drug-related charges and comes just a year after Diamond Platnumz’s manager Babutale offered to check in the rapper at a drug rehabilitation centre in Bagamoyo, raising questions on whether Benz underwent counselling for his addiction.
