Soon after Mike Sonko graduated from Kenya Methodist University (Kemu) his father was seemingly an excited man.
During the party held after the graduation ceremony at their home, Gideon Kioko Kivanguli -Sonko’s father was all jumpy as he danced to Kamba tunes.With swift moves from his time, he walked the dimly lit house swinging up and about.
The Nairobi senator posted a video showing his ‘old man’ celebrating his success as a bachelors graduate. He captioned it with:
Blood was thicker than water as usual. This guy was the happiest man when he celebrated my graduation in style he's none other than your Senator's DAD Gideon kioko Kivanguli wa Kivatu na Ngilesi.

Many have seen his degree as political move to contest for Nairobi Governor seat in 2017 general elections. Sonko has however denied the claims that the decision to pursue a university degree was driven by political ambitions.
