they move swiftly than most commuters,they are easy to cause a commotion whether agitated or not,now this is the story of the gereat pick pockets of likoni ferry in mombasa county.several residents have complained of these folks but their lamentations have fallen on deaf ears.everyday tens of people lose their valuables while jostling to board or alight from the ferries.the pick pockets are masters of their art,one cannot easily detect them unless you are also part of them.

aisha a regular commuter says that womens are mostly targeted because of the things that they carry like handbags.she says that she has lost almost five mobile phones to these criminals.she further adds that the criminals are found mostly during peak hours especially in the morning when everyone  is rushing to their place of work.

bakari juma a resident of likoni says that even men are prone to be victims of these criminals since they always cause commotions in the ferry or holding bays where majority are men so as to snatch wallets,phones and other valuables from male comuters.

although there is a police station at the kenya ferry channel a few people have been arrested in connection to these acts of stealing from members of the general public.the police at the station have focused mostly in screening vehicles going to board the ferry than other criminal activities happening within the channel.

the kenya ferry services limited has even  sticked notices on the ferry warning commuters to beware of pickpockets.the criminals have devised ways of duping suspecting commuters by claiming that they are being pushed in order to confuse their prey.
