Police hunt for teacher over exam cheating

Police in Ndhiwa District are looking for a teacher alleged to have colluded with students in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams.

Ndhiwa OCPD Achesa Litabalia said his officers went to look for the teacher at his station- Okok Mixed Secondary School in the district- but failed to find him.

“We are going to follow the matter very closely to ensure that whoever was involved is apprehended. At the moment we cannot conclude that it is only one person behind this scam. We have to investigate many things to get the right people who were involved,” Litabalia told The Standard On Sunday.

The teacher is implicated in a case in which a magistrate’s court in Ndhiwa slapped a two-year-jail sentence and a fine of Sh20,000 on a student for cheating in Geography Paper 1.

The 18-year old Fredrick Otieno pleaded guilty of being in possession of prepared questions and answers similar to the paper that was being administered, contrary to rules set by the examination body, Knec.
