Harambee Stars jetted out to France yesterday morning for a three-week training camp ahead of next month’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt and all hopes are on the team to do well. The players are highly motivated after receiving their allowances and now the onus is on them to perform well and make the country proud.
It is encouraging that the issues of players’ allowances and travel arrangements have been sorted out. Players should always be treated right for them to perform at their optimum level and with money issues aside, the focus will be on performance.
Harambee Stars are in a tough group with Senegal, Algeria and Tanzania but with proper preparation the team is capable of making it to the second round of the tournament.
Stars have never made it past the first round of the event and this is the best chance for them to do so, especially after their training and basic needs, including the camp in France, have been taken care of.
The fans may not agree with the coach on his team selection but at the end of the day, they should allow coach Sebastian Migne to do his job as the trainer. Migne may have erred in some of his selections, but he can only be judged during or after the tournament depending on how bright the Stars shine in Egypt.
