The National Police Service (NPS) has condemned an incident captured on video where a motorist was allegedly caught abusing a female officer while performing her duties.
NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga in a statement said that the incident happened in Nakuru County on May 6, 2026.
In the video, Nyaga says the male motorist is seen subjecting the female traffic officer to verbal abuse, intimidation, and actions which he said undermine her lawful authority in the line of duty.
“The National Police Service condemns this behaviour in the strongest possible terms. Such conduct is not only unlawful but also directly contradicts the core values of professionalism, discipline, respect, and integrity for which the NPS stands,” said Nyaga.
According to the spokesperson, police officers should not be subjected to harassment while serving the public and upholding the law regardless of their rank or gender.
“The actions displayed by the male officer do not, in any way, represent the ethos, training, or code of conduct of the National Police Service,” said Nyaga.
He said NPS is built on honour, courage, and mutual respect-both among officers and towards the member of public.
According to Nyaga, NPS had initiated disciplinary and corrective measures against the male officer.
“We further commend the female officer for her composure, bravery, and commitment to duty despite the provocation. Her conduct exemplifies the professional standards expected of every police officer in Kenya.”
