Residents of Sirende village in Tongaren, Bungoma County, are mourning the killing of a five-year-old girl whose body was discovered at a cattle dip.
Jayline Gloria, a pre-unit pupil at Sirende Academy, went missing last week after she was picked by an unknown bodoboda rider.
Efforts to trace her proved futile even after a missing person report was filed.
Residents of the area were left speechless after her body was discovered near a cattle dip, barely a kilometer from her parent’s home and initial investigations revealed she might have been strangled.
Her parents, Kelvin Sabwami and Jackline Adhiambo, said they were saddened by her demise and wondered why their daughter had to go through that pain.

“We have been agonized by her death. We don't know why someone killed her. We have left everything to God,” said the father.
Tongaren police boss Thomas Tukei said the matter is being investigated and those responsible will be brought to book.
The school’s director also advised parents to have proper background information of bodaboda riders they assign to pick their children.
