Two people died while another was seriously injured following a grisly road accident at Rukanga along Makutano-Sagana highway in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday evening.
The accident occurred after a car crashed with a boda boda carrying two women.
Mwea West sub-county Police commander Aden Alio said the driver of the car was heading to Nairobi from Sagana while the boda boda operator was heading to Sagana from Makutano ferrying two women.
Alio said the two women were pronounced dead on arrival at Sagana sub-county hospital.
The rider was seriously injured and had both legs amputated in the accident.

Alio said the public held the driver who police arrested and is in custody at Sagana Police Station.
Residents called for the installation of bumps on that stretch of the highway, noting that several accidents have happened there over the years.
