Religious leaders have accused local police officers of engaging in crime and demanded transfer of those who have "overstayed".
In a statement read on their behalf by Maurice Langiri of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, the clergymen accused some of the officers of engaging in smuggling.
They asked County Commissioner Jacob Narengo to have officers who had been in the region for many years moved.
They also asked that Narengo orders the removal of some roadblocks, saying they were conduits of corruption.
“The border with Uganda must also be manned properly to prevent illegal entry of aliens and smuggling of goods into the country,” read their statement yesterday.
