Three Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) customs officials have been charged before a Mombasa court in connection with the sub-standard sugar in the market.
Vivia Rioba, Monica Kiarie and Stephen Onditi face three counts of abuse of office, breach of trust and wilful disobedience of statutory duty.
They are accused, jointly with others not before the court, of clearing 10,000 bags of sugar weighing 50kg each that did not meet the required standards between June 29 and July 11.
The hearing was set for September 6.
