Learning has been disrupted at Chewara Primary School in Tiaty, Baringo County after strong winds blew off the roofs of several classrooms.
The winds also destroyed offices in Sunday's incident. Teachers and pupils also lost their valuables. "Roofs of most classrooms were destroyed.
It is hard to carry on with normal teaching in classrooms without roofs," said headteacher Ruth Kamomai.
She added: "We have incurred massive losses. All the solar panels we depended on for power were all destroyed by the wind storm. Power cables have also been destroyed. We fear naked electricity wires will harm us."
She said lessons were being held in the roofless classrooms in the morning and that the learning sessions had to be conducted under trees in the afternoon.

"Sometimes, we are forced to dash out of classroom whenever winds start blowing. This has affected learning," Kamomai said yesterday.
Sometimes, pupils are forced to share classrooms. The school has about 300 pupils.
County director of education Willie Muchocho said: "The headteacher should write to the ministry to get funds to repair the classrooms."
