Whenever you see a toad jumping in broad daylight, then know that something is after its life, so goes the saying by coveted Nigerian writer Chunua Achebe in his book Things Fall Apart.
So when President Uhuru Kenyatta lashed at a public rally that the Judiciary is handling wrongly cases related to the August 8 General Elections it means something is seriously wrong. It is a cry that must be recited from all corners of the country.
Just like Achebe, we Kenyans ought to be building our country’s economic fabrics or mending our roads, equipping hospitals or better still create more jobs and investments. It should not be wasting resources on politics.
Such a time of the year, we Kenyans must be busy putting our compounds in order by listening to campaigns on issue and policy-based politics, not sideshows and court theatrics. Something is wrong for two arms of government to be fighting in public over policies.
Now the President and his deputy William Ruto are calling on the Chief Justice David Maraga to help Kenyans understand this situation and explain why there are judges who have shown their political stand and what will happen to the impartiality of the Judiciary. The confusion created is now life threatening and the incumbent are not ready for another stint with the Opposition in same government because of the Judiciary’s mishandling of the election cases.

Kenya is still recovering from the damages caused to the country when similar agitations by the same characters in the current positions led to full blown violence in 2007/2008. This country needs every person to work hard to build it not to fight again because of politics.
