It’s luke-warm at the K’Ogalo homestead.

We have started the league with two wins and a loss, having had a very disappointing pre-season in terms of results.

It’s quite ironic that in recent times when Gor has had a bad pre-season they go on to do well in the season, so our hopes are still high that the loss against Western Stima was just a slip.

Keen observers of the game, like myself, will admit though that the club’s new football style or philosophy referred to as pimo pass gi ruler in the dialect of the majority supporters, translated to mean clinically measured passes, do get frustrating more so when it fails to end up in a goal.

That has defined Coach Ze Maria’s stint at the club.

With the addition of ex player and former coach Zico (Zedekiah Otieno) on the bench and the expected return of Jerim or such practical figures as well, with a role on the bench, it is hoped that the measured passes plus grit as is already evident since Zico returned will result in wins and wins and more wins.

Another positive thing is that the new office has embraced the Youth Team more and it’s just a matter of time before it becomes a good feeder of the main team as should be the case.

Off the field, the apparent discord in the Gor Mahia Executive Committee characterised by functional rivalry and turf wars amongst overzealous officials has been a source of major discussions amongst fans, in both social and traditional media, causing quite some discomfort.

I pray and hope it’s just the normal stages of team formation with the new office being in the “storming” stage.

Thankfully the club chairman has moved to bring the house in order and if the concerned officials learn to be disciplined as they go about “storming”, then the whole saga will come to pass just as a storm in a tea cup and the new EC will pass that stage into productivity.

It is evident though that this affected the Gor versus Zoo Kericho home match gate collection as well as the harmony within the technical bench.

Interesting times

Okay so our erstwhile nemesis and mashemeji AFC Leopards have also started with two wins.

I wish them well. We need the two clubs with the largest following AFC and Gor motoring at full throttle for the league to be interesting, but not well enough to go ahead of us at the final whistle, when Okombe will be ours.

We say this year that dini waduoko dala (the cup is coming back home) to K’Ogalo. Beware Tusker and Ulinzi too.
