Mandago must shun tribalism
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago should stop whipping up
ethnic emotions over the appointment of Moi University Acting Vice Chancellor.
He needs to be reminded that none other than former
President Moi picked Prof Laban Ayiro to head Sunshine School in Nairobi yet
there were many qualified Kalenjin teachers he would have appointed. Prof Ayiro
is credited for steering Sunshine School to become an academic giant. Mandago
should realise that a public university is not a village property. Besides, the
government should act on ethnic composition in universities, after all
lecturers are not conducted in local languages but English.
