Kenyan Communication Don, Sr Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando, has made history in Fukuoka, Japan, by becoming the first African to be nominated to the position of member-at-large for the International Communication Association (ICA).
If the nomination goes through, Sr Prof Lando will not only be the first African to sit on the ICA board, but also the first to serve and represent the African region in ICA.
ICA is an academic association for scholars interested in the study, teaching and application of all aspects of human and mediated communication.
Addressing over 2,000 conference delegates from more than 80 countries on Saturday 11th June 2016 during ICA’s 66th Annual Conference in Fukuoka, Japan, the outgoing ICA President, Prof Amy Jordan said that Sr Prof. Lando was nominated because of her active role in internationalising ICA.
