Former Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Olive Mugenda’s decision to decline a Sh100 million send-off package is a mark of servanthood. Mentoring students and helping them meet their targets was her main concern.
In our country, where corruption and greed for power are the order of the day, it is amazing that Mugenda declined such a huge offer.
Last year, the Mashujaa Award Committee recognised Prof Mugenda for her transformational leadership, and many other achievements. The award speak volumes of her personality.
Despite the highest scales of looting that have surpassed anything we have ever seen, it is gratifying to see few people like Mugenda and others go against the grain. They are devoted to serve their people wholeheartedly without expecting much in return.
